From Camera Gear to Travel Bidets: Meet The Traveler
At Zacuto, we’ve spent the last two decades building gear that filmmakers trust. From Z-Finders and shoulder rigs to EVFs and cages, our mission has always been the same: design innovative, reliable tools that solve real problems for people.
But here’s the thing about problem-solvers: we don’t stop at one category.
A Personal Problem Turned New Venture
Like many of you, we travel. Trade shows, business trips, family trips and vacations. And one thing that always came up (but rarely got talked about) was bathroom comfort. Our co-founder Steve Weiss has been a longtime bidet user (read: addict) at home, and he found that traveling without one was… less than ideal (not possible).
The solutions out there? Handheld bottles, awkward sprayers with not enough water or pressure, products that didn’t come close to a real bidet experience. So we did what we always do: went to the drawing board and designed something better.
Introducing PortaBidets: The Traveler
The Traveler is the first true travel bidet—a sit-down style experience, with enough water supply, adjustable pressure, and multiple spray modes. It attaches directly to a standard toilet (hotel, Airbnb, cruise ship, friend’s house) in seconds, with no tools. Portable. Powerful. Familiar.
We launched the concept on Kickstarter and the response was overwhelming—over 2,000 preorders and counting. Now, production is underway and the first shipments are going out.
Why This Matters to Zacuto
You might be wondering: why would a camera gear company launch a bidet?
The answer is simple: because we solve problems. Whether it’s helping filmmakers get an EVF for their camera or helping travelers stay comfortable on the road, we use the same design DNA:
- Listen to real needs.
- Engineer a solution that works.
- Build it to last.
Zacuto isn’t going anywhere—we’ll keep innovating for filmmakers and content creators as always. But we’re also excited to show how our design philosophy can extend into new categories. PortaBidets is one proof of that.
