Sony’s New Z300 Camera is Here — And Zacuto is Ready

Sony just dropped the  PXW-Z300, a lightweight, professional 4K camera built for run-and-gun shooters, ENG pros, and documentary filmmakers. While the Z300 delivers impressive specs and versatility, one thing immediately stood out to us - as a gear manufacturer-  it doesn’t come with a traditional built-in viewfinder.

Instead, Sony has taken a new approach: the Z300 features an upgraded LCD screen with a swivel mount that offers more flexibility than previous models. It's a welcome update for handheld and over-the-shoulder shooting — but without a viewfinder, it can be challenging to see and focus on the LCD screen especially in sunlight. A viewfinder also helps with stability.

We’ve been working directly with Sony to develop a custom solution: a Zacuto Z-Finder that mounts securely to the new LCD screen on the Z300. This isn’t a workaround or compromise — it's a precision-designed optical viewfinder that integrates seamlessly with the camera’s new screen, giving you the 2.5x magnification, diopter adjustments, and glare protection Zacuto is known for.  We also mechanically strengthen and created a locking capability for Sony's viewfinder support arm.
